How to contribute
The desk publishes staff work and reviewed contributions from practitioners. Here is what we take, how review works, and where to start.
What the desk takes
- Field notes — 400–1,500 words: an observation from practice, a paper worked through, a protocol tried in an analog setting.
- Method write-ups — countermeasure protocols, diagnostic procedures, hardware notes with enough detail to reproduce.
- Comments — open on every article, posted after editorial review. A comment that cites its sources is more likely to clear review quickly.
How review works
Every submission passes the same pipeline as staff work. An editor reads for accuracy, sourcing, and clarity — not style points. Decisions post within five days.

Ground rules
- Claims about human health need a citation or the hedge that fits the evidence.
- Case material must be de-identified. No exceptions.
- Discussion on this site is not medical advice, and submissions should not read like it.
